Grow & Flow

How does one make hair grow?

This is one of the most popular questions I get asked at least 8 -10 times a week.

There is a myriad of reasons that contribute to the health of hair growth, but most importantly it starts from within.

You are what you eat.

So if you eat shitty, chances are the health of your hair and skin might be too. Now, I’m not saying to go vegetarian but it’s important to limit the intake of processed foods and chemicals. Limiting processed foods and intaking more fruits and vegetables promotes a healthy hair growth.

Your hair is nourished by your blood. So the vitamins you take and your diet contributes to the growth of it. Why do you think pregnant women have awesome hair ?! Because they’re taking prenatal vitamins and making sure their body is healthy for their little seed.

You need more than just biotin to help your hair grow.

Try to incorporate more of the following into your diet:

  • Zinc

  • omega -3

  • Magnesium

  • Iron

  • folic acid

  • protein

What I suggest to avoid/eliminate :

High fructose corn syprup

non-organic meats and dairy

articial ingredients / sweeteners

lower your stress levels

Hair is always growing in different phases, like the moon.

We shed about 100 hair strands daily due to the telogen phase. Extreme stress can cause as much as 70 percent of the hair to prematurely enter the telogen phase and begin to fall, causing noticeable loss of hair.

A while back my dad was in the hospital (ICU for 2 months) and for the first time I experienced stress related hair loss. In tough situations, it’s hard to just stop stressing and get over it...I did some yoga and nasmastèd it out and hoped for the best...I  also smoked some cannibis to help with the stress.☺️

As for external reasons-using products with silicon or waxes can cause build up and clog your hairs follicle. Try using sulfate free clarifying shampoos and avoid using products with silicon in it.

My favorite shampoo to recommend for thinning hair or to accelerate hair growth is the Revive shampoo system. If you have curly hair I would recommend using a different conditioner because this line is meant for fine hair, so the conditioner is really lightweight.

So the answer to the question in 10 words :

Eat your vitamins, drink water, and try to stress less.
