Thailand-The Land Of Smiles

IPP_0018.JPG
“We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.” - Buddha

Tips to know before traveling:

  • I recommend to bring comfy sandals or shoes that slip on and off easily because most places ask you to remove your shoes before entering (mainly temples, entering some rooms/homes)

  • BRING TISSUES. Third world countries do not have the same lavatory systems we do and often times there was never toilet paper. As a lady I was glad someone warned me ahead of time and now I am warning you. BRING TISSUES!

  • Be prepared for smiles...lots and lots of smiles. Everyones smiles and says hello to you. Sawadee ka!

Bangkok Activities:

Temples to see:
*Men and women must show respect and cover shoulders and knees before visiting temples, so no booty shorts or tank tops.

Wat phra 100 bahts

The Grand Palace 400 bahts  A MUST SEE

Chatunuk market *** must go for amazing local food, culture, and shopping! Only open on weekends. I absolutely love markets and this was hands down my favorite.

Platinum Mall- so much fun! Huge mall I highly suggest not to pack much because you're going to want to go shoppining. This mall has everything you can think of.

Khao San Road was a party scene-food & drinks everywhere. Susie walking Street led to more food and it was a tiny bit calmer.

Activities Recommended to me by friends and fellow travelers:

The speakeasy rooftop at hotel muse -Try spitcock cocktail

Dialogue coffeehouse & art gallery

Soi rambuttri street in old town

Ruen-nuad massage studio

Talad Rot Fai night market

Siam hotel opium spa

Where to eat in Bangkok:
We only spent 3 days in Bangkok, so we did not get to explore too much but for the most part there are food markets every where. Especially by Platinum mall-they have a huge food truck market.

On Lok Yun -breakfast ABSOLUTE MUST. This local gem has been around for 80 years. The Thai teas (cha yen) were homemade and sooo good. The Chinese sausage was sweet and salty and perfectly cooked. And the bread with butter and sugar made me want to take it all home. We actually took 2 loaves of bread because we witnessed countless locals stop by and stock up on it. I wish I brought back more, we practically ate one whole bread on the flight back home. I dream about this place for breakfast.

Charming Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is a charming city that is great to visit if you want to absorb the culture away from the city madness of Bangkok.

We stayed at the 99 Gallery Hotel  for $123 a night we loved it! It honestly was one of my favorite hotels. It was convienietly located at the start of the Sunday night Market and many other spots for food and massages.

Get a massage (full body 1 hr massage for like $8!)

Where to eat in Chiang Mai :

Phi Phi Don-the party island:
Party island. There are no cars on the island, so you have to walk every where which is kinda fun.

We took a 2 hour ferry from Ao Nang Krabi to Phi Phi.
From there we were dropped off at Phi Phi  and it was such a cute little island!
Sadly I did feel like it was a little dirty and touristy, especially compared to Railey Beach but it felt like it was going to be fun the minute you step onto the island.

Hotel: The Cobble Beach Hotel
The Cobble Beach is on the side of the island that is close to the view point. At first I regret booking this hotel because the walk there was crucial. Again there are no cars on the island and we had our back packs and shit with us so trekking uphill to the opposite side of the island in 90 degree weather was tiring,  but on the bright side it was fun because we had a little tour of Phi Phi on the way.  I'm glad we booked this hotel because it was far from the club scene which played loud music until 2 am.

Things to do:

Maya bay 😍  now I know why Leonardo DiCaprio made that movie.

Monkey island/beach -watch out for the big monkeys, stick to the little ones.

Long Beach was just so pretty and relaxing.  Phi Phi surprisingly is more of a party island so relax and then get a drink! Watch a fire show, dance your ass off all night.

Smoothie Bar Reccomendation:
August resto-yummy Thai tea and organic natural smoothies

BEACH TIME in Krabi:
Railey Beach

Railay Beach holds a special place in my heart. If you do decide to visit go with the intentions of enjoying the land, food, and scenery. Do not try to change it. In order to get here you must take a 25 minute boat ride from Ao Nang (Krabi)

Things to do:

  • Viewpoint & lagoon -free

  • Eat as much Thai food as possible

  • Special smoothie 500 baht each shake

  • Watch the sunset-free

  • Water activities like kyak or snorkel (watch out for sting rays!)

  • Ko Poda, chicken island tour( 1,800 baht for 2 people )

    • that also includes snacks & national park fee

Where to eat in Railey Beach:

The Tamarind Bar serves yummy homemade Thai food and great moon shakes. It’s a special shake, they’ll explain.
If you want a trip to the moon, just look for the sign. It wasn't my first rodeo and I knew what to expect. The shake caught me by surprise, it was made with fresh pineapples, mangoes, passion fruit, and orange juice, I chugged it and headed to the West part of the beach to watch the magical sunset in a spiritual abyss.

Family Restaurant was literally a family restaurant-the kids were helping out . The food was great and I loved their Thai teas. Only part that sucked were the flies but if you sit in front of the fan they won't bother .

There was also amazing halal food stands that served chicken shawrma wraps that were fucking amazing.

Along the beach there is a smoothie shack that makes fresh smoothies with all the yummy organic fruits you can imagine.
